Key will not turn in ignition, transmission stuck in park

Key will go in to start the car but will not allow you to turn it to start the car. Gear shift will not move out of park.

Since the brake transmission shift lock is normally on the same circuit as the stoplamps, see if the stoplamps work and if not, check the stoplamps fuse.

Actually I looked up the fuses, they are the 'wiper sw" fuse and the "BCM elect" fuse both in the body control module, located at lower center of dash.
