How water resistant is the key fob?

I have an older style “key fob” (I guess it’s called that) to unlock the door and pop the trunk. How water resistant is it? It must be somewhat because it gets wet in the rain. So if it gets a little wet is that okay?

These are able to withstand rain and other surface water. However, they cannot be submerged.

If the remote gets wet, I would put it in a bag of rice and let it sit overnight.

I thought that was an urban legend years ago but it has been proven many times as the rice draws the water out.

I attached the process below on how to program a new remote fob if you or someone else needs that. However, this requires a scan tool so it may not help you at this point.
