for starters, going down the road, it started whining like it was revving too high. i was in traffic so i just let off the gas and reapplied it. it seemed to work, until a couple miles later. it sounded like something dropped and then she would not shift into any gear. the gearshift would move but with older vehicles you can feel them drop into gear. did not feel it. then after a month of sitting, she would give me a grinding sound, almost like someone ripping an emergency brake, whenever i tried putting her in any gear. then a month later, she does not growl, but she does not drop into gear either.

no parking brake starting when it sounded like something dropped.

she has the option to switch between 2 and 4wd, but since i got her i was told that the transfer case was broken and she would stay in 4wd until that was fixed, which i never had a chance to do.

i am trying to figure out what specifically needs to be replaced.

have a transmission guy check the trans kind of sounds like it's bad. then scan for codes for t-case as it may be the encoder motor.
