I have a 98 jeep wrangler little four cylinder engine. It is a manual tranny. While I am driving the check guages light will come on. When I look at my guages the voltage meter to on the top left of my dash is flat lined. It showes no reading whatsoever. I turn the jeep off and turn it right back on and the guage will come back to normal reading. I can go sometimes a block or five miles and it will flat line again. Now there are times that I drive it twenty miles and it doen't do it at all. Then there are other times that I can't go to the store with out it flat lining
The only thing I have noticed that is paculiar is that the times that I drive it and this happens the normal reading is lower than when i drive it and it doesn't do it at all.

Good likelihood there is a fuel problem. Start with a fuel filter replacement and then if that does not solve the problem go to a fuel pressure check.
