I could be wrong, but if there is a relay for the switch, check that it is wired correctly. Hope this helps.

Hi the kit works like a factory setup. I had to unplug 3 different control switch plugs and insert wires into the block in all three. Then had to add a relay and fuse to the engine fuse panel and then a fuse to the aux fuse panel for the wiper motor. There are 2 fuseable links within the wiring but this is just to protect the mail fuse panel I think.

I am wondering if I missplaced one of the wires I had to place in the switch block. The wire I was confused on is the black/white wire that pluges into the #27 plug underneath the dash. The diagram shows to plug into the 4th position from the left on the bottom but the only open spot was the exact oppisite, top 2nd. Does anyone know what this wire feeds? Could this be the problem or is it something else?

I am familiar with electrical components and electrical systems. However, I am not familiar with your wiring kit or the wiring of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler. I could not find wiring diagrams on-line. Could you provide me with a pdf or scan of the instructions for the wiring kit and a picture or wiring diagram of the area beneath the dash you are having trouble with? Unless of course someone else on here can help you without needing these.

Hello, here is a link to the diagram, I followed it exactly. Still not sure about step #25. This position was just the oppsite, meaning the upper 2nd slot was oppen.

This is where I put the wire. I do not know what this operates or if this is what my problem is.

It looks like the Black/White wire is a positive battery connection. Check that the slot you connected it to has 12 volts when the ignition is on and 0 volts when the ignition is off.

Just going by the instructions, it looks like it may always be illuminated. Is there an orange wire going into the defroster switch? If so, it will always be on as long as your ignition is on. It's just there to show you where you switch is in the dark. You can test it with a volt meter. Turn the switch off and check for 0 volts on the defroster connector that will hook up to your hardtop defroster circuit. Then turn it on, with the ignition on, and see if you have 12 volts. If that is correct, then it is probably just like I said above and you will only be able to tell that your defroster is on by the switch position.

If you have 12 volts with the switch on and off, you might have a bad switch. Pull the switch and check it with an ohm meter. A multimeter will be able to test both volts and ohms (resistance). You can always use a test light to check volts, not sure how you can test resistance.

You could always go to a chrystler dealership near you, I know the one here will print off schematics for free. Check what the D5 pin on the connector for #25 does and see if the one you used does the same thing.

I have a 05 Wrangler that I installed the same hardtop kits, but I am having to opposite problem, I have no power to the switch or the defroster. There is power at the fuse and to the relay, but no power to activate the relay or switch. The directions were not that great, the wire positions often did not match the wire color. Where should I look first?

I know there were some wiring harness changes on the Wranglers during the 04 to 06 period. You might have to verify the hardness to be exactly the one for your Jeep. Trailer wiring harnesses can also be an issue. This may be a long shot, but it might not be responding because it is not hooked up to the hard top. Hope it all works out, because the defrost works great.

Thanks for getting back to me. I had the dealer check the part number again and they assured me that it was for my year. The wiper washer works with it plugged into the top, but that system runs off it's own power supply and it did not splice into the original harness like the defroster side did. I had the dealer call Chrysler about the issue and they said that the only issue they had on the harness was that some of the pins would not seat properly and to try to unplug and re-plug the harness under the dash again. When I get a chance I plan to take the whole dash apart and recheck the connections and check to see I have power from the fuse/relay. Have any suggestions of which wire should have power coming in and going out?
