engine blew? 98' Jeep Wrangler, WHY?

I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, 105,000 miles, 4 clyinder engine.
I just had it serviced, oil change, fluids, belts checked, inspected ALL., as I was taking an out of town trip.
Was driving home, on thruway, appx. 75miles per hour, no warning, large puff of smoke & then no pwer, nothing. Got it to side, tried to turn over , all it did was pour oil!!
I treated my Jeep like a creampuff!!, and My question is:
Is it possible the garage didnt tighten something in the oil change process making me, possiblity loosing oil, not knowing, causing the engine to blow??

Please help, I am devistated!!!!

What color smoke?
If it was pouring oil when you tried to restart it the the oil pump works and it had oil.
Where was it pouring from?
They could have used the wrong filter.
Did the oil pressure gauge read high or low?
Was your coolant low?
Too many questions to pinpoint it.

The smoke was white as far as I could tell, happened so fast.
Was told today , by a mech. that it has oil still
Oil was pouring from oil pan
My oil pressure was perfect & so was the water gadge just before it blew, no indication of any problem!?
I had someone look at Jeep, was told that there is water in the oil, and there is NO coolant, and that it was the gasket that blew, wasent their fault, was an "act of God", & they now will gladley put a used motor in for $2000 & up!!!!
I feel somethings wrong with this picture!!,,,Please help, I cant affoard this kind of money!

Yes, it WAS the same people.
Unfortunatly, this is a VERY small town, only 3000people, so I have no idea what , if anything I can do. Very depressed :cry: :cry: , My elderley father has said he will pay for it, But he really cant affoard it anymore than me!

What kind of load did you have on it when you went on your trip?
If it wasn't much, not likely an act of God.
Normally shows some kind of sign it's going.

Some times bad things happen to good people. Maybe you can buy another car as cheaply as possible, and even afford a small payment. Nobody is making you repair that jeep. I know it is special, and every car I have ever had I had parting issues, but it is just a vehicle, and they do break. Head gaskets can blow at anytime. Sometimes they give warning signs, and start to leak a little before they go. In those cases they can be repaired. But in some cases they just blow and mess everything up.
As long as you dont owe anything on the Jeep, your best bet may be to get another car. If you contact a junk yard, they should come and pick up your jeep and pay you a few buck to take it away. ($50-$100)
