When checking my oil the handle of the dipstick broke off 3/4" inside of the tube where you pull out the dipstick. This has been in and out of my mechanics shop trying to retrieve the broken piece out.
What is making this so difficult is that the tube which the dipstick goes into is one piece connected to the oil pan. The mechanic spoke about cutting the tube away from the oil pan and then fitting it in the oil pan some how. Common sense tells me that there reason why this is one piece because it is made for off road where you may encounter water and you dont want that in the oil pan.
My thought and I want to confirm it with you is to remove the oil pan and try to pull the dipstick out through the oil pan. As a last resort replace the whole oil pan unit.
