1998 wrangler Please Help

I have had no problems with my jeep until a week ago. It ran and drove fine until the next morning I went to start it and it cranked fine but it did not start. I was a lilttle low on fuel and initially thought that it was out so I added fuel. Then I depressed the little valve on the fuel rail and fuel squirted out. I took a spark plug and put into a plug wire then grounded it and no spark. I plugged a code reader into it and get a variety of messages indicating that it is not compatible(link error,read code error, etc...) I do not get a code with the key on. The reader is brand new and works on my other vehicles. I towed it to autozone and there code reader did the same as mine. It is a 98 wrangler; 4.0; approx. 80,000 miles. Someone please help.

I have a '98 Wranglker 4.0lengin that did the same thing. I changed the wires, plugs, distributor cap and coil. Still no fire on the plugs. The problem was the Flywheel sensor located on the drivers side of the engine down at the transmission. I put in a new one it fired right up.

I actually gave up and took it to the dealer. But I am going to give the story anyhow hoping it will help someone else. I am a technician and we do not get payed much so I did what I could without taking having to take it to a dealer. First off I picked it up today. Crankcase position sensor. While it was running I took it to a dealer and they could not get any info of anything wrong. Said they had to check it when it was malfunctioning, Then their computer would not"communicate with the PCM". I would turn the key on and if the fuel gauge did not move I knew it would not start. If I left the key on for a half hour or so the gauge would move and it would start. They thought it was the PCM and they replaced it and it did not start. How the thing are connected are beyond me. I almost ripped all of the computer controlled crap out and threw a HEI ignition small block in and then I knew I would not have a computer issue again. If I would have gotten some advice or some good communication from the people who run this site I would have gladly give a generous donation. I todays day and world I do not give money out trusting that someone will help.......to the people who run this site thanks for nothing.
