1997 Jeep Wrangler horn stopped working

97 jeep eh? first question - does it leak at your feet like many do?

if so - first suggestion - check for rusty connection in the wiring.

All wiring that I can see seems corrosion free. Problem seems to be in wiring that goes through steering column and where it comes into the engine compartment.Didn't want to start taking more things apart if there is another possibility. It's overdue for inspection so I got to fix this stupid horn

do you have an airbag on the steering wheel or is it old school style wheel with just a nut in the middle under the horn pad? My gut says the problem is with the actual sensor that is pushed when you press on the wheel. That trigger is not sending the correct signals to your horn to tell it to go. This of course is not a certainty, but a hunch. The only way to know what the problem is, is to eliminate each section little by little.

You could run a wire from the horn trigger to the horn, bypassing all the fuses and everything else just to see if it triggers - but if you have an airbag - I do think that you might be best to take it to a professional to fix. Sad as that may sound. Air bags are not very friendly if you don't do things in the correct manner.

Again - gut feeling is it is the trigger that you push to make the horn sound, as you said the horn itself works directly to power, and the fuses are fine.
