1992 Jeep Wrangler POWER STEERING PROBLEM

Did it do this before you replaced the pump? What kind of fluid did you use in the pump? Could be a restriction in the low side hose keeping it from returning, or could be the valving in the pump is sticking at low temps

It did not do this before I changed the pump. I used prestone power steering fluid. At this point are there any test methods I can do at low temps or should I start by replacing the pump again? This is my nightmare.....

If you just got hepump, I would have them warranty it and try another. It all started with the pump

So this morning I went out started the jeep and the pump whines and when you turn the steering wheel louder whining. Here was my test. I got the hair dryer and put it on the pump for 5 to 10 mins. After that I started and no whining even when I turned the wheel. So this tells us that something in the pump is sticking when it gets cold. How could a new pump do this? I know when I first installed the pump and ran it I didnt get all of the air out so I guess that could have damaged it.

Could just be an O'ring that is a little too tight and when it gets warm it will work.People build them, there will be problems here and there
