I have a 1987 jeep wrangler that is not running. I thought the problem was the old stock carb. I am installing a new upgraded carb but having a problem. The jeep always needed fuel injector cleaner added to the gas (fuel filter is new) or it would buck. It also had a rough idle that would buck as if it was not in the right gear even though it was. It would not start in very cold weather and that is how it ended up not running. It was very cold and would not start then we had a warmer day and I was able to start it just long enough to pull into the garage. the new carb is half on. I am at the point that the instructions tell me to start the jeep and run for a bit and then mark the vacume hoses but it wont start. (almost did) but after a few tries the battery whent dead so i took out and used the battery from my trooper and after a few tires that too when dead. I charged them overnight and same problem dead dead dead. Do I have some other totaly diff problem. that it was never the carb and maybe the alternator ? It did run it did turn over befor? any ideas?
