When I accelerate it sounds like it is backfiring out of my air filter box My jeep will do this when it wants to. I can't pinpoint a pattern or whatnot. While driving my RPM's seem to be running right and my speed is fine but it will go through this spurts where my RPM's start surging and when I accelerate my jeep chokes and coughs and will not gain speed. Sometimes it will die but other times I have to shut it off, turn it back on and floor it to try and "clean" it but it ends up doing it again.
I replaced my fuel filter and my IAC thinking that would help. I can notice the IAC has made it less frequent to surge than before but it still does it. During this process it will backfire through my air filter box and sometimes through my exhaust. I pulled my throttle body off and cleaned it, as well as the sensors attached that I did not replace. I don't understand what is doing this, I have done process elimination and it just won't work. Any answers or advice?
