At 135,000 miles I was having suspected transmission issues that no one could replicate. My Jeep Grand Cherokee would bang into gear when I put it in reverse and sometimes stall. I took it to the mechanic and they did a transmission service. At 136,000 miles the transmission completely went. I had the transmission replaced. At 137,000 miles the check engine light went on and my mechanic reset some codes. It was fine for about another 1,000 miles but now it is back to the orginal problem. Banging into reverse, intermintenly, then stalling. It also "hard" shifts if I have to slow down and drive between 20 - 35 miles per hour. No one can ever seem to replicate the problem. I suspect something else is wrong and the transmission is the victim of it.

if you have a 42rfe or a 46rfe their is a tsb for harsh shifting their is a valve body spacer plate and new nepreen check ball the original problem is that the metal check ball wears out a little bigger hole in the valve body spacer plate . the bigger hole alows more fluid to pass by and it changes the line pressure that the trans normally shifts at the dealer knows about this it is some what pricey the stalling ing thing may just be a hole nother problem
