Probably not. Try pulling out the relay and plugging it back in. Could be a loose connection. Also, pull off the positive battery cable for about 2-3 min. then reconnect. This should clear any codes.

Yes it is important & they go bad often on this year & model. Your cooling fan will not go on if the relay is bad meaning if the car is left idling for a period of time it will overheat, could ruin the motor because of it. The relay is in a bad spot. It's directly under the battery housing. Although you have to take the front bumper cover off to get at it as it's screwed to the passenger side wheel well arera. The relay is shaped like a bat with a wire connector. 2 small bolts & you're done. My suggestion is to relocate where the relay is so if it goes bad again you won't have to take the bumper off the next time. Aldo buy OEM part at dealer, aftermarket ones seem to go bad about once per year.

You need to replace the cooling fan relay, it's a common problem on these. It's in a bad spot under the battery housing attached to the passenger side wheel well area. You have to take of the front bumper cover to get to it. I've done it three times myself. My suggestion is use dealer OEM part, aftermarket goes bad sooner & relocate the relay to an area where you won't have to take bumper cover off to get at it if it goes bad again which is very likely
