You may not realize this (many people don't) but oil pressure is developed by restrictions in the oil system. The oil pump DOES NOT make oil pressure--it is a positive displacement pump--meaning the oil pump moves a certain volume of oil from one place to another.
Restrictions in the oil system include bearing clearences, bends in oil lines, oil line diameter, oil gallery diameter, thickness of oil--ETC. Also, restrictions can be gasket material or dirt or carbon clogging up an oil gallery--and/or--oil line inside of your engine.
Make sure the proper grade oil is in the engine. If so, drain out some oil and flush the system with a good oil system cleaner/flush like STP system flush. If that fails change the oil pressure sending unit. If that fails then it could be a broken oil pressure regulator spring which requires changing the oil pump.
High oil pressure is just as bad and even worse than low oil pressure. Let us know what you find..
