I have a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited, that keeps warning of Coolant Level Low, even though I fill it with Anti-Freeze.

It also lags in power when I accelerate, and I have found that not all 8 Spark Plugs work. I've removed certain wires to each Plug, and the engine stays lagged, as if only 5 or so, work.

My question; will replacing the Spark Plugs, Wireset, Distrubutor Cap, and Rotor.. as well as the hose that feeds the Coolant to the engine help it run better?[img:1c56d0893d]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/295405_My_Jeep_2.jpg[/img:1c56d0893d]

Yes, it actually states "Check Gauge" when i look, it shoots to 270+ degrees, then it shuts off! But it has never smoked... it just shuts off.

Is it physically overheating ? if not could be just the coolant temperature sensor or the engine temperature sender gauge switch acting up or the gauge itself/wiring.

Before I continue, I must say thank you so, so much for replying so quickly. I thought i'd have to wait days.. thank you, Rasmataz!

..I think there may be a hole in the coolant "feeding" hose. Because i find it empty again and again, but i don't see any huge leaks on the ground with i back up the Jeep. It just reads: Coolant Level Low. And it drives right up until it Over-Heats, then it shuts off.

Well, I took my Jeep in and sure enough, the over-heating issue was much more serious than thought. The engine is filling with Anti-Freeze and is actually burning it, because the Head Gasket is gone. (Hence, the nasty smelling while smoke coming out the exsaust), I was offered to get it replaced with a 65,000 Mile engine, (Mine has only 97,000), for $2,200. (With 3 Month Warrenty.) My question now; Is $2,200 a good price for a new engine job?

How much are they charging to replace the headgasket ? other than the new engine job.
