oil pressure sensor replacement

The oil pressure light comes on and stays on steady. The dealership says I need to replace a solenoid. I will(can't hurt can it? it's under warranty still) Why would the oil pressure light come on if it actually has to do w/ the starter. That is what a solenoid is right? If I don't do it right away will it cause further damage? I don't drive the vehicle more than a few miles a week. Thanks for any info.

The starter does have a solenoid but that is not the only solenoid on the vehicle. However, is it possible they said the sender? This is the oil pressure sender that is just a sensor that sends the pressure to the PCM.

As for if it is safe to drive, that depends. I would not drive it that much until this is fixed because it may be fine with correct oil pressure if this is just a sensor issue but we don't know if an actual oil pressure issue develops so we need this functioning.
