My car started dangerously bucking lately while on the parkway at about 50 mph, or if I punch the gas peddle down for immediate acceleration. I was told that I either had a bad fuel pump, fuel pump filter or a bad oxygen sensor.
Because of the huge difference in the cost of replacement for the fuel pump vs the oxygen sensor, how can I be sure?
Does the pump usually need replacement on a Jeep 6cyl Liberty after 100, 000 miles?

yes and no. At 100k ther are a lot of things that could cause a los of power, and i'm not sure of what you are saying about the 'bucking at 50mph'... however you do not want to start throwing money into your ride until you know what is wrong with it. Have you had a tune up yet? what has been done to the car? The O2 sensors usually just effect your gas milage and not a major loss in power. it could be your air filter, plugs, wires, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel sensor, or many other things. A good place to start is to go to a part store and have them scan your car for free, also most of the thindgs i mentioned above should have been done already except the fuel pump and sensor. tell me what has been done, get it scanned and get back to us.
