Inside the transmission. It can be removed after removing the pan, draining the fluid, and disconnecting the linkages. Removing and diagnosing a problem with it is really not a do-it-yourself operation. There are way too many things that can go wrong including replacing steel balls in the incorrect locations, and any tiny speck of dirt can cause improper operation.

Hi
Need to remove pan and filter to gain access valve body inside trans but can be serviced without removal
