My husband just bought a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He knew that the people were having problems with it but it was a good deal....or so he thought. The problem is, it will run for an hour or more and then if you stop for a minute it will start spitting and sputtering, smells awful, and then it just shuts off. You have to wait approximately 10-15 minutes to restart it and actually be able to go somewhere. If you are in town and make many stops it will just stall and of course you have to sit on the side of the road. Our mechanic can't figure it out. We purchased a new ECU for it and then took it to Chrysler to find out that the old ECU is fine. They told us to change the ignition coil (i think that's the name) and so we did. Still nothing! PLEASE HELP! We are going on vacation in a few weeks, driving over 800 miles away. We have two very small children and don't want to be breaking down all the way there.
