I am the only owner of this 2000 grand cherokee laredo. I have done all service as scheduled and just replaced the drive belt because of loud engine noise, belt cracking and wear.
The noise is still there after replacing the belt and I think it might have something to do with the alternator because when I press the remote entry the driver back door makes a honking sound upon unlocking. I have to lock the back door from the inside upon leaving the vehicle because the remote locks all doors but that one. Is there anything that can be done to quiet this noise besides replacing the alternator if indeed it is the alternator? Please advise. I really appreciate it.
