2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO

When I start my 2000 jeep laredo it runs at a very high idle for about a 2 minute period before it kicks down., which seems to be alot longer than it used to be. Anything I can do myself?

Chances are the temp sensor is going bad. It sends the signal to the computer telling it how hot or cold it is so the computer can determine how rich or lean to make the fuel mixture at start up. Has the check engine light come on?
