I am wondering if it is really necessary to replace ALL 4 of my tires, just because I got a nail in the wall of one of my tires? The tires I have are relatively new/not worn. My mechanic stated that when you replace one, you should replace them all - they need to have the exact same tread. I've asked around and have been told that it doesn't really make that big of a difference. I would like your opinion on the matter?

I would at the very least try to get the same brand and model tire put on. 4 wheel and all wheel drive should be the same as your mechanic has stated. Unknown handling can occur otherwise. I have seen all 4 tires be different and being driven on however.
