See my profile, Imma CJ kinda guy, I know little about your rig (computer wise).

I do know mechanicals on vehicles, and your description was pretty "Vague"

HAVE YOU PULLED YOUR DIPSTICK AND VERIFIED THAT YOUR OIL IS AT PROPER LEVEL (THIS IS ON YOU, YOU CANNOT TRUST, "WHAT IT WAS", TOO MANY THINGS CAN HAPPEN.....SEEN OTHERS FAIL TO PUT IN THE NEW OIL BEFORE)

HAVE YOU CHECKED OTHER FLUID LEVELS?

GAUGES AND LIGHTS ON DASH IRREGULAR?

Can you elaborate on this sound (please)?

Is it constant?

Does it keep in time with engine RPM?

Is it only, while on the move?

Can you sorta tell where it is originating from? (Turn off that blasted music, roll down your windows, listen, have buddy in the rear seat, move from one side to the other, assist in locating the area in question.)

Does it vary in pitch? When?

Can you hear it "Static" with the hood opened?

Is there anything on your rig that may be happpening that might be related to this noise (i.e. Power steering....braking changes pitch...etc etc.)

I sorta can sympatize with the lack of fundage problem, however sometimes keeping up with your "Scheduled Maintainence" can sometimes solve these kinda problems you have.

A Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual can guide you thru the things you should be keeping up with on your rigs "scheduled maintainence" also can provide troubleshooting and "How Tos", for about $30.

Maybe I can help....I noticed you went answerless for a while, thats why I jumped in.

Let me start by saying, yeah the "dipstick" trick was already done. New oil was put in with my oil change as I perviously stated. All my fluid levels are even with what is standard. Gauges are normal, other than the air bag. That is not the issue....With the sound....You know just before you get your breaks serviced that high pitch sqreech sound that it makes..well this is very similar but its not the breaks. The sound only happens when driving on side streets. Not on the freeway. It mainly is when I drive between 15 and 30 miles rpm. For some reason it is not doing it so much now. I asked my buddy to listen outside of my car to see if he heard it and of corse the jeep made me look like a liar. And FYI I don't blast my music. With no air conditioning in this horrid heat my windows are down. The pitch never varys, it stays at the same high tone. There is also no "static" when my hood is up. Nothing is happening with my"rig" that could cause this. I keep up on maintence as much as able. I been late maybe twice on any of it. As for the self troubleshooting, I'd rather someone that knows what they are doing fix it and get it done right instead of me acting like I can do it all. I really thank you for the time and attention you put into this. I hope I answered all of your questions and we can get this resolved. Thank you again..

Roger, Not trying to pizz you off or anything. I am a member like you, 'cept they deemed me sorta a Trouble Shooter, hence "Helper Satus".......I am not a Paid Mechanic....nor am I paid here, like many of the other fellers This is my HOBBY, and I try to help I try to make it fun for the both of us! Many do not get an answer.....so I help take up some slack. As for the "Did you this and that"---some people have no business even touching a machine! If you noticed, I wrote in bold Caps, Things that you should check 1st..............Trying to save your engine and keep you from walking!.......How thoughtful of me! Your initial Question left alot to be desired in SYMPTOMS of your racket. As for "Static" a word meaning "Sitting Still, In Place, Not Moving" I found 2 STUPID, wild noises that stumped me for a while. 1) Friends rig, squealing noise, very low......days later....tape player (thought to be dead) was turning 2) My Jeep....Ding Ding Ding repetitive, thought it was "Engine Pinging".........days later.....turned out to be the Bullet Casing on my keyring flopping around! Does the SOUND change when you Apply brakes---even gently apply? I suspect that.........YES!, it could be your brakes! EVEN BRAND SPANKING NEW ONES! If below is correct, this is not Dangerous---only annoying! Specifically DISC BRAKES, many people FAIL to use BRAKE QUIETNER (not proper name) when they install pads...........the little packets at the parts store counter cost $0.50 on up, and a CAN might be several dollars...........Gosh thats High! (reason its seldom used by little guys) This stuff is usually Blue or Red....and sorta thick. It is applied to the backside of the pads (avoiding Metal to Metal contact of the parts).........During installation If you do not BELIEVE me.......Call ANY AUTO PARTS STORE......and ask if 'Ole CJ MEDEVAC is correct. See This : Built from a scrap heap, almost from scratch, all by myself 2 years--little fundage.....No noises in it! See, I do know some stuff!

That was funny. My jeep is not that old. I really am happy that you took time to answer my may irritating questions. I think it might be a belt. If they spilled some oil on it, is it possible to make noise until it is gone? I am certain that its not the brakes. I got them done at Midas. If it was I would be pissed. Sorry to hear about the evil one. Good to hear that a man is taking care of his kids (even step). We need more men like that out there. Anyways, I am taking it back to the oil changers on friday to yell and ask them to fix what they messed up. One time they left a wrench under my hood and had they're you know what handed to them. They never pulled that again!!! Since that they have taken good care of me and my car. So I will keep you posted on what it is, just in case you get another stupid woman that don't know nothing about cars. HAHAHA. Or wait is that just me...kidding. Have a good day. And thank you again.
