My Jeep Commander 2006 model v8 4.7l with 24,062 under it's belt was doing fine, until yesterday. After doing about 25 miles I had a brief stop, & tried to start, then i heard a noise (burst) under the hood & was smoking. When I checked the battery lids have poped out & smoke was coming out from within the battery, & noticed leaks from battery. The vehicle had to be taken to the dealer on a Recovery vehicle. How could this have happened as I didn't notice any signs of a weak battery nor there was any activation of warning for over charging etc.
