1983 Jeep CJ7 Jeep won't idle

My jeep will not idle, even if going down the highway and I press the clutch, it dies. I have put in several fuel treatments, replaced the alternator and battery. Am thinking it may be the carborator or fuel lines now. Am I going to have to rebuild or clean my carb?
What else could it be? Thanks.

I would strongly suggest purchasing a vacuum guage
as it can be very useful here. If you plan to purchase one of these please let me know what the vacuum at idle is and if it is steady steady.

You may need to adjust the float. However here is a checklist to verify.

Check fuel filter and Carb screen for particulates.

Check float wet level and verify needle valve is clean and undamaged

Check main jets for particulates.

Check all emissions hoses are in good condition with no leaks or cracks. A hissing noise is usually indicative of this.

Make sure the engine is timed correctly. You will just need a basic inductive timing light for this. Should be 6 degrees BTDC based on the number 1 cylinder.

Check the spark plugs for heavy soot or too large a gap. They should be a light tan grey.

Did you have an air diverter, pump or EGR system originally equiped on this vehicle?
