I bought 81 cj7, automatic, 258 6cyl. When I press the brakes while driving, the pedal goes all the way to the floor and the brakes barely work. Is there an adjusment that I can make to adjust the the pedal? Or should I look at something else? Keep in mind, I am not a mechanic. So type slow. Thanks

See my profile, I can help you, I get the feeling you do not know mechanicing well....I can still help or at least help you find an inexpensive out. I Hunt and Peck Myself! It could be a combination of problems, If you would get a manual: "Chilton or Haynes" for your Year and Model. You will see howcomplicated or EZthis stuff is/ or can be! Cost about $30. Ready for any repair, you might have later! Shows Pics...+ much more! You will Need some special tools, and a "Mechanical" mind on your end! There is no Pedal Adjustment, Per Say, only adjustments to other Brake Components will raise your Pedal These are the possible factors you are up against! (Checking, Testing, Repairs, some, all or any comination, that can/will affect your pedal) : No brake Fluid Bleeding Bad Master Cylinder Shoes on rear wore out Pads on front wore out Leaking Wheel Cylinders Leaking Brake Hoses/ Lines ETC. Brakes are complex (cannot make mistakes!)---You must Depend on them with your life and others Too! If you are VERY MECHANICAL--Go for It! I am not going to write you a manual (already available)But I will explain stuff you do not understand in YOUR NEW MANUAL (I help those who will help themselves)----OR---- I will give you some ideas on where to get this done, Effectively and Inexpensively. If you cannot do this yourself. If you will read CJ 7 Post "1985 CJ 7 Stalls When Hot"(still helping him) several below yours...
