1976 Jeep CJ7 transfer case

I have a quadra trac in this jeep there is a loud poping noise coming from the transmission\ transfer case when you really put the gas to the engine. what could this noise be and what are my options

The QuadraTrac transfer case is chain driven. This chain stretches over time. It just be stretched just enough so that when you really give it gas, it jumps a cog or two. Made need to disassemble and replace the chain. They are still available for purchase.
