Engine Mechanical problem
1978 Jeep CJ5 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 90k miles

I was driving, it started to spit and sputter, oil pressure dropped from 60+ to around 30, will not hold an idle, runs rough and blows black smoke now?

I did a compression test cylinders ranged from 90psi to 120psi no funny noises top or bottom?

Carb has a FLOAT/FLOAT LEVEL....or.....NEEDLE and SEAT.......BREAKAGE...or...ADJUSTMENT ISSUE

that's what it was, I pulled the carb yesturday and found a pool of fuel in the intake and I just tried your test method and it acted just like you said, ran very eratic then smoothed to a good idle and stalled once the float bowl was emty. THANKS
