I've got a 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport (the last of its kind before they made the uglier looking jeep liberty thereafter). My mechanic at the Jeep dealership has informed me several times over the last year that I have the following issues: 1) "rear main oil seal & oil pan gasket leak" 2) front differential pinion seal leak 3) and all 4 shocks that need replacing. Realizing that all 3 of these issues needed to be dealt with, I finally brought the Jeep in to be fixed today. However, I was shocked at the price I was quoted at the dealership - $975 for the shocks and $860 for the pinion seal and gasket leaks. When I asked about the parts, he told me the new gasket reseal was only $80 (i.e. the other $780 was for labor). I don't know the price for the new shocks. I declined service in order to try to get a second opinion. SO, my question is what should I expect to pay for these services? Is the Jeep dealership trying to rip me off for labor?
