1999 Jeep Cherokee turns over fine, just wont spark

1999 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I get back from a 10 day field training exercise, all wet dirty and disguisting, go to start my jeep to drive to get clean and it doesn't start. Just turns over, and over, and over... won't spark. Battery is fine, reading 13 and the gas tank is over half full. I've been nursing this thing along for a while and questionif this is something I can do myself. I need this vehicle up and running. Thankyou for your help.

Try this 1st
hold down the gas paddle 1/2 way as you cranking
if that get it going should check it for tune up if not
check this
with key on you should have check engine light on
with engine cranking light should go off if not suspect crank sensor or ASD relay

Ill give the 1/2 gas a shot in the mmorning. Is there anny way someone tampering with any part of the vehicle could've done this? Not sayn I have enemies, but gotta cover all angles.

All is possible
but lets check the basics 1st
check for missing fuses and or relays

if have cap ,rotor and wires and if its due for a tune up rain will cause a no start
if weather is better open the hood and let the sun hit the engine to dry

Tried holding the gas 1/2 down. Didn't work. Since I saw little mold looking spores growing on the engine block I'm leaning towards water in the dist cap or spark plugs. Its still raining outside, like 3 days straight now. Would taking them out, drying it off and addding somw WD-40 be a good idea?

If have a covered place or a garage that you can work on it ,you should take the cap and check WD40 is a good penetrating oil but not a drying agent
they do used to sell at the part store wet wire or wire dry you can check at your local part store


take cap and check the condition as soon as you can ,if wet i would recommend a tune up
if possible and have the ($$$)
