1998 Jeep Cherokee Hard or delayed gear shifting shifting

The jeep feels like the transmission is not talking to the gas pedal. The motor seems to be running fine and the transmission does not leak or make any odd noises and I had a total replacement of the transmission fluid at 100000 miles. The motor seems to be running fine.
Symptoms:
1 The RPM gauge sometimes surges about 1 RMP while the gas pedal is constant and the car is driving at a constant speed. This does not happen all the time and mostly occurs when accelerating from a stop to 50 mph.
2 Jeep is sluggish to take off like the motor and transmission are not in sink with each other, although they both seem to be functioning fine.
3 Finally I took it for a 30 mile ride on the interstate (70 MPH) than when I exited off the ramp and came to a stop the trans mission did not want to go, It was in drive and when the gas pedal was pushed the motor revved up but only creeped forward. Than I manually shifted it into 1st gear and than second onto drive and it started working again and never repeated this again.

perform a stall test.

1 set the emergency brakes.
2 apply the service brakes
3 start the car
4 put the gear selector in low gear
5 accelerate the engine until speed no longer increase.
6 note the rpm.
if the rpm is higher than specification the transmission is slipping. band adjustement might correct this.
important: never do a stall test for no more than 5 seconds because of the excess heat that the test causes

I did as instructed and the RPM went to 1500 to 2200.
I also stopped the car and did a hard acceleration and the RPM never rose above 2500 and the jeep slowly moved forward 50 feet and eventually began to accelerate.

What should be my nest test or repair?
1 Speed sensor?
2 Shift solenoid?
3 Pressure/temp sensor?
4 TPS?
5 New Transmission?

Either the bands need adjustement or the servo responsable to operate the band is defectiv.
take it to a shop and ask them to do only band adjustement(cost less than repairing the tranny), if that does not fix the problem then tranny need overhaul.

I went to Advanced Auto and read the codes See below:

1. P0740 = Torque converter Clutch Circuit or TCC circuit malfunction.

2. P1757 = TCM Transmission Control Malfunction.

Does this help or change your previous comment.

I also got a fuel level control sensor and a cylinder 2 misfire.

now let go in details
p0740 = torq converter clutch, no rpm drop at lock up
/ relationship between engine speed and vehicle speed indicates no torq converter clutct engagement.


and1757 governor pressure above 3 psi in gear/ governor malfunction

This help and reinforce my previous comments and
the result of the stall test you performed today .

For some reason the clutch is slipping.

before condamning the clutch , check the level of the transmission fluid and let me know.
