1998 Jeep Cherokee Engine Mounts

Greetings,
I have a grand cherokee Limited with the 5.2 engine. I have had the car for 7 years and changed the engine mountes twice and they have gone again. There is no trace of the rubber in the mounts and so they have been beaten to death. What is causing this ?

Could be poorly made mounts, or do they get covered in oil or tranny fluid from a leak? Use quality mounts like MOOG, they cost more, but will last. If oils get on them, it will soften up the rubber...
