Why does the abs light come on for an extended period of time , then go back out? Mechanic checked on his computer and found a code for "low voltage to pump"... Could this be a faulty control module? Or should I have the abs sensors at each wheel tested for voltage?

If it was a sensor at the wheels, it would have identified that. Did the mechanic test the power to the pump? That is where I would start. There could be a loose or corroded wire.
