no spark?

I have seen the ASD relay cause this here is a guide that can help with the relay location in the diagrams below.

I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee with a 5.2 liter engine. I recently replaced the right head and put everything back together. After reinstalling head the engine ran great. But after running for about 30 minutes and a test drive, the thing died and will now not start. I have attached a test light to coil and am getting no spark now. i first thought it was just out of gas. I have reset the security system by locking and unlocking the back hatch and front driver doors. Anything i'm missing? I need help. About at my wits end.

Did you check primary voltage at the coil, engine cranking, dark green wire with orange tracer should be hot? The same circuit supplies voltage to the injectors and 02 heater circuit as well.

Can you check for codes? Do you have digital odometer? If not, you should be able to get some mil codes, if there are any? You cycle the ignition switch, on--off, on--off, on, then the mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. You cycle the key just till the dash lites come on, no further.

i am getting no injection spark and no fire not getting codes the thing ran and then stopped now no fire

i have a 1996 jeep cherokee country with a 4.0 straight 6 it has no spark from the coil but i have replaced plugs ,plug wires tps sensor, map sensor, coil pick up sensor and ecm. What else can cause a no spark problem.

This is likely a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS)

Test the Crankshaft Position Sensor. It is located on the transmission bell housing at about the 2 O’clock position [if you are standing in front of the vehicle. Follow its wire up to the top of the intake manifold [this is where its connector is].
Disconnect the connector and use a digital ohmmeter to check the resistance at the “B” and “C” pins of the connector (the lead that goes to the sensor). It should show infinite resistance or “0”. Anything other than this reading means that the sensor is bad.

Another little “trick” to help narrow it down is to unplug the crankshaft position sensor for about 30 minutes, plug it back up and then try to start the engine. If it now starts, this means that the crankshaft position sensor is going bad and has an intermittent faulty. Replace it.

What should the voltage be to the coil from the ICM? There are only two wires in the plug that plugs into the coil.
There is no spark coming from the coil.

Do you have battery voltage at coil positive terminal dark green and orange wire-if not check fuse no.20 30amp and test out the ASD relay it powers the coil. Also the injectors dark green and orange wire none there were right back to the ASD relay it powers it too.

The jeep died while driving.. It has a new coil, cap and rotor, wires, and plugs. It still won't start and I checked for a spark, no luck. Amy ideas?

Check for power at the dark green and orange wire at the coil connector-No power there inspect and test the ASD Relay it powers the coil

I have no spark at coil with 12v at connector with ignition on. I have replaced PCM, Crank position sensor, coil, ASD relay, coil wire, cleaned and tightened all grounds. HELP??

So I have changed the CPS sensor on the bell housing, and I have changed the Ignition pick-up sensor. The engine did start the night I put it in. The next day it started right up went for a quick drive came home parked it, and then it would not start. So checked the pick-up sensor and it cracked and the metal came out. Went and got another one put it in and it started right up. Came out next day and took it for ride came home parked it and it won't start again checked sensor and it was not damaged this time. Help please

When you say pick up sensor, are you referring to the camshaft sensor in the distributor? If so, check the shaft for excessive wear or play. It sounds like the it may be moving around enough to hit the sensor.

Take a look at picture 1. It shows an exploded view of the distributor. Let me know if the cam sensor is what you are referring to.

Welcome back. I will try the picture again. Since the first sensor was damaged, make sure there is not play in the shaft which could cause it to damage the sensor.

Thank you, it was the distributor that had vertical play, and it was vibrating and damaging the p/u sensor.

just got up one morning and will not start. wants to but getting no spark. Replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, coil, coil pickup. still no spark. someone said crankshaft positioning indicator. Any other thoughts?

Check mil codes, see if anything shows up. Check primary voltage at coil and injectors, engine cranking. The dark green wire with orange tracer should be hot. Yes, the crank sensor could cause a problem.

94 jeep have changed coil,dist cap and rotor wires and plugs i have tested power to coil get it only first couple seconds when turn key to crank and only cranks in neutral. what do you think it could be?

Welcome to the forum, check the primary voltage to coil and injectors, that voltage comes from asd relay. The relay may be fine, if the computer doesn't see the proper cam and crank signal, it may not ground that relay. Check for codes, see if it points any direction?

I have a 1994 Jeep Cherokee and had the same issue. After reviewing 10 or more forums I came to the conclusion of the Crank Shaft Position Sensor. I took it in to a shop to do the repair since it was a difficult part to replace.
