I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and it has a very substantial oil leak. It seems like it's pooling up somewhere under the engine (when I park in the driveway it drips much more, like it has been pooled up and is running off). I see oil around the valve cover, but not sure if it's coming from there or from somewhere else? Any ideas? Local mechanic said I should clean the engine because he couldn't tell where it was coming from.

Hi there,
Your mechanic is correct, you will have to clean down the engine and check for the fresh leaks, this is the only way to really find that problem.

You should degrease it and find the leak who knows that leak will get bigger than it is and lose all the oil and the engine will end up locking and there's goes a big repair bill or a new engine
