take a light and see if you can see any broken shackles in the rear. sometimes they are hard to spot. if it is sitting that low you should be sure to see if they are broken. you can also jack the rear up to see check the spring hangers.

Now that the snow has melted some what, I was able to get under my Jeep. The right rear leaf spring is broken. The break is from about 6 inches behind the front hanger and the whole package is broke, not just a single leaf. So I guess my next question is a two part one. Apx how much will a repair like this cost if I have a garage repair it and two is it something that can be done at home. I have done brake jobs and minor engine work in the driveway, but I have never worked on a suspension before.

I tried to upload a picture for you but there is something wrong with downloading, you can replace it yourself, there is one thing that you really must do, take measurements from the shackle brackets to the spring tie plate, that is the plate that goes under the spring that has the u bolts that hold the rear end on the spring. best to take as many other measurements like from the rear end housing to the spring. this will make it so you will know where the spring goes. if the spring tie plate is off it could make the jeep a little side ways going down the road. you can buy new shackles or you can get one out of a junk yard, out of the junk yard would be cheaper, if you do that check for any cracks in the spring before you buy it. take your measurments before you jack up the car and measure from the side that is not broke. it's not hard to put another spring in. and it will save you some money.
