GENTLEMEN,

I have a 1993 4.0 L, 6 cyclinder Grand Jeep Cherokee limited with 85,200 original miles. I'm have an inttermitent starting problem. I've replaced all the iginition parts such as, spark plugs & wires, rotar, cap, & ignition coil. All new! Have made sure that all connections were tight from the battery. I've tested the coil as well as the spark plug wires with a ignition tester to make sure that I was getting sparks when the engine was turned over. I noticed that when first turning the ignition key to an on position, and without cranking the engine, I would not get a check engine light. After about 30 seconds or so with the key still in the on position it would come on for about 2 seconds and then go off. I'm able to start the car at that point, but not before that. No engine check light, no start. I was told that I might have a bad crank sensor. I disconnected the crank sensor, turn the ignition key to the on position, and after 30 seconds the check engine light still comes on, but if I try and crank the car over it won't start because of the disconnected crank sensor. What else should I look at?

Thanks,
Perry

That is an odd one. Have you tried having the computer scanned for codes? Most parts stores will do it for free.
