I was just given this jeep and I noticed the door looked like it wasn't quite closed. When I drove it, the door sounded like it was opened. Finally last night I went to close the door after I'd gotten out and the door wouldn't close at all. It sounds like metal hitting metal. I finally got it closed by opening that little latch but now it won't open at all and still looks like it wasn't closed all the way. How do I fix that?

First thing is to get the door open from outside on inside...then remove the interior trim panel and check the steel control rods, the will run from the handles to the lock and latch at the end of the door, reconnect them and use new retainers to keep them in place, then with the door open look at the striker, this is the round piece on the piller. Loosen it, push it in toward the seats, and retighten it, do this until it's properly opening and closing...
