Hi I haven't done the compression test yet but I will explain everything else first, I just bought a 1987 jeep cherokee. It would die everytime I came up to a stop, the engine lacked power serverly metal to the floor and I made to about 50-60 mph. Since then I was told it may have compression problems so I haven't bought anything yet for, but I have took out all the spark plugs and cleaned them and put them back in now my jeep is still misfiring but not as bad it has a little more power to it and I told my mechanic that and he said it may not be the compression but I still need to do a check just incase he said just from listing to it I need to get a full tune up done and some other things. but any tips on what else I should do will help!

Hi:
With 200K on it, I would start with the compession test before putting a lot of money in it. If the compression is good, the tune-up is a good move. After that, see how it runs and go from there.
