I just bough a 1985 cherokee 2.5L 4WD a couple months back. It was driving great until i noticed one day that the clutch wasn't engaging anymore. I would push the clutch pedal in all the way to the floor and there was no resistance like there should be. I would pump the pedal several times and the clutch seemed to catch after a while and engage normally. Now the problem has gotten worse and won't engage at all. It doesnt' seem to be the clutch is the problem because i can still get the car into gear and drive, but I can't get the clutch to release and move into second gear. Is there any solution on how to fix this problem or even diagnose it?

How does the clutch fluid look. If it has gotten too low you may now have to bleed the system & it takes a lot of bleeding. If it looks fine you may have a bad slave cylinder.
