'93 XJS 4.0L 6CYL.
I have had problems with losing water.
I believe I have a bad head gasket or cracked head.
Anyway.. that leads me to my problem. I have been refilling the water on a daily basis and lost all of my antifreeze. So, when it got below freezing the other day a plate cracked on the back of the cylinder head and now water leaks out as fast as I can put it in.
This plate is on the back of the Cylinder head/block next to the firewall. it is about 6" or so in diameter and is bolted on. What is this part called and where can I get a replacement? How much is it?

Hey Randy,
Sounds like a freeze plug went. I recommend you stop just adding water as it only makes your troubles worse by causing rust/corrosion in the engine block and head!!!! Antifreeze is designed to inhibit this! as to the cost of the part I really couldn't say, but if it is a bolt up style plug I'm pretty sure only jaguar will have it.
