My XJ-S Covertible just shuts off intermittently while driving. No engine cough or sputter, no dash lights come on. It acts like I just reached up and turned the key off. I coast to the side of the road, put it in park and it starts right up and runs fine. Currently installing a new ignition switch to see if that solves the problem. Any thoughts on other items to look at?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I feel that this is certainly an ignition based problem, often a faulty distributor or DFI module is the cause, often they can over heat and cut out, this is just like turning off the key, and when they cool a little they will work again, you may get a code if you get a scan done, remembering that you don't always get a fault light with all set codes.
