Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Jaguar XJ8 V8 Two Wheel Drive
I have a '99 XJ8l it has low comppression on 2 cylinders on the right bank and had blow by with oil in the intake to the throttle body so I think I need a nengine, but I don;t want another nickisyl engine but it seems that everywhere I look they tell me that I can;t fit a 'o1 '02 '03 year engine in my car . can you tell me what exactly is the difference and can it be done with some work I am an electrician and I have rebuilt engines for smaller cars in the past one of them being a lotus esprit so I am used to having patience with the project.

I have a list of engines that are a direct swap, they are all nickelsill engines, I would like to know what I would have to change on an '03 engine to make it work in my car. the VVT's are in the same place on my engine as on the '03 what else would be differant? thanks Gary
