It's a rare quirk on Jags, but sometimes the fuel injectors will stick open when the car is shut down and they will wash just enough gasoline on the piston rings to cause a loss of compression. The fix is simple. Remove spark plugs, inject an ounce or two of oil into each hole and then spin engine over a few turns with the plugs out. This will move the oil around until there is a seal. Replace plugs and start engine. It will smoke for a moment and then should run fine. We had to do this twice before mine would start up, it really gave us fits trying to figure out why it wouldn't start, we had fuel, we had spark, but suddenly low compression? All it was was the ring seal. Hope this helps.
