When I removed the Ignition Coils for the spark plugs in my 1995 Jaguar XJ6, there is a thin gasket between the coil and the engine block. Is the gasket really necessary? What is the function of the gasket?

(Note: Each (1) piece of gasket costs $15!!!)

the gasket's are there to protect the coils from arcing out and moisture ingress .. it is totally your call on whether to replace them !
