Hello –

On your model there may be a TSB out on this but I need a little more info on the problem. When you say hard brake pedal….do you mean every time you apply the brakes the pedal is hard to push…or sometimes it is normal and then it is hard?

Please explain a little more of your problem so I can better assist you. Also, is this model just an XJ6 or is it a XJ6 Vanden and your engine is a 6 cylinder 4.0L yes?

I hope you and your family have a nice Thanksgiving.

Hello –

Try this and let me know.

Check the brake power booster by pumping on the brake pedal while the car isn't running. Continue pumping until you've "bled off" the vacuum from the booster.

Next, hold the pedal down while you start the car. The pedal should go down a bit more beneath your foot. If it doesn't, then you should examine the connection between the vacuum hose of the brake power and the engine's vacuum.

You have some other systems on this car, please let ,me know the results of this test.
