1995 Jaguar XJ6 Battery want hold a charge with new alterna

I installed and brand new alternator and battery and got them both checked again and they are good.My battery light came on about 2 months later i felt a jerk in my trunk now my car want hold a charge.I was wondering what cause this problem and what is all of a sudden draining my battery when driving.
