What is the easiest way to get to the starter bolts for removal on my 1990 xj6 sovereign?

easiest way is using a socket and extension bar !

The removal appeared more difficult than actually turned out to be. I chose a less conventional approach. I pulled the wiper transmission out which exposed the firewall a bit more to access the top starter bolt.
The bottom bolt was very easy to get out. The top bolt was removed primarily with a ratching wrench. You can back the bolt out only so far then you have to use the open end side. It is a long bolt so prepare yourself. The last few turns will need to be done with your fingers.
I tried the method noted with the long extension and swivel, but I was unable to penetrate the sound deadening material that was present.
I hope this might help anyone pursuing this adventure.
