2005 Jaguar X-Type Misfire and smoking

Engine Performance problem
2005 Jaguar X-Type 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 80K miles

2.0 Diesel. Misfires at around 2000rpm and pushes out a lot of smoke under hard acceleration.Doesn't misfire under acceleration.Have changed the egr valve which was very sooty but problem exists.No engine management lights show and no engine error codes shown when diagnostics are checked.
Any ideas gratefully received

hiya im a jaguar technician.. have you check the intercooler pipe what connect from the intercooler to the EGR. They usually have a neatly cut split about 3-4 inchs long. also have you checked for leaking injector piped on the cam cover? also another thing you could check the wiring from the ecm to the connector on the egr...only depending if t the EGR is electronic or vacum. thanks pino
